Just released Marco Bolognesi Bomar Edition/Silvana Editoriale Texts by Alberto Abruzzese, Lorenzo Canova, Elena Forin, Sue Hubbard, Kei Kagami, Catherine Somzé, Nicoletta Vallorani Bringing together a selection of his photographic works, Dark Star allows us to indulge in the surprising world of multimedia artist Marco Bolognesi, an imaginary universe that provokes curiosity and wonder around the issues of beauty, loneliness, power, fear and identity. In Bolognesi's words, "women are the dominant force of nature and will be the dominant force of the future", in his world, extraordinary women are the solo and spectacular protagonists. But they are philosophically, genetically or technologically modified organisms with no precise connotation of time or space. And, with their bodies as canvases, poses as languages, clothes or accessories as signs, and with image titles adding a further dimension to the immediately seductive surface dynamics, Bolognesi's mysterious and powerful mistresses, slaves, princesses, performers, lovers, warriors and cyborgs are telling us stories about the ambiguous and evolving quality of human nature, about the relationship between uid and xed identities, about a society which is never static and never predictable. The vision is that of a fragmented, augmented and twisted reality, and the technique is that of collage. Most of these works are virtual mixes (or even re-mixes) of different, sometimes contrasting, aesthetics and cultures: tribal, erotica, mythological, religious, military, fashion, pop, punk and cyber traditions are all overlapping inspirations. But these images are, at the same time, real assemblages of a variety of diverse elements, flawlessly integrated revealing a maniacal attention to, and a true mastery of, pre and post-production procedures. At once conceptually complex and visually stunning, Dark Star is a book and a work of art. Recent exhibition Artists: Marco Bolognesi, Davide Coltro, Daniele Girardi, Assaf Gruber, Santiago Picatoste, Silvano Tessarollo The relationship between man and the environment is more and more controversial, and increasingly important. With the group exhibition ‘Work in Progress', La Giarina gallery is opening a path dedicated to this theme: all the artists selected con vey the inevitability of a confrontation that produces continuous anthropological, social and environmental changes, and each of them expresses in different linguistic and aesthetic ways a personal vision of this unstable balance. Bolognesi's C.O.D.E.X. B lue series seems to be all about a struggle for power between real human beings and stunning female cyborgs, Cybernetic Organisms Designed f or Exploration and Xenocide. But the action is set in a ‘virtual world' created by Bolognesi mixing some imaginary buildings with those of contemporary East London, a former commercial and industrial area which is now the new pulsing heart of the city, still retaining a contradictory and sometimes frightening nature... Is the fight imaginary or is it real? Forthcoming Exhibition Galleries: Galleria d'arte Paolo Nanni & Galleria Di Paolo Arte Just released Just released ARTISTS AND THEIR TIME There is an interesting parallel between Marco Bolognesi and David La Chapelle. It's ever so true that artists speak of their time!
