Dark Star and Genesis, Bolognesi's exhibition at Fondazione delle Arti Solares.

Borrowing the title from his recent book Dark Star, a stunning exhibition of new Bolognesi's works will be held at the Galleria delle Colonne in the Fondazione Solares in Parma, from February the 7th to April the 15th.

The project displayed is called Genesis and the fo cus is on the theme of creation and mutation of identities. It is composed by three installations of 6 light-boxes each, and a forth which is a 3D plexiglass pilaster.

The artistic use of collage to generate wonder and the sci-fi practice of assemblage to create cyborgs are the key to decode the whole message: each work is a composition of details taken from the portraits included in Dark Star, but the result is a completely new and unexpected entity, a proper genetically modified organism, which is as intriguing as it is compelling. While in the transparent pillar, some alien heads float in coloured waters...

Bolognesi's adventurous quest on real and artificial identities is also explored in his short film Black Hole, the story of a new breed of cyborgs, which will be screened in the nearby Cinema Edison for the whole length of the exhibition.

Carlo Lucarelli, the original crime and noir writer, and Simona Vinci, the evocative dark and sci-fi writer, together with Marco Bolognesi himself, will present the exhibition and discuss its themes during the vernissage, which will be on February 7th at 21.15..

Black Hole nominated for the Limelight festival.

Ground-breaking talent in films and stage performance are brought together by the innovative Limelight festival in London. For the film category, short 10 minutes works of different genres are now competing for the Award, and Marco Bolognesi's cyborg adventure Black Hole is one of these. 'Within the setting of the The Crimson spaceship...

...power relationships have been redrawn and the humans are no longer in control. An experiment to investigate new forms of life takes an unexpected turn and technology takes over. Procedures such as genetic gender transformation and cyborg implants result in a crew of hybrid retro-futuristic creations. At the helm, Communication Officer Richard Gore, a computer-generated voice. But a powerful magnetic force is beginning to drag the whole spaceship into the Black Hole...'
