Art fairs

Marco Bolognesi is proud to be attending Scope Basel next week, where he will be showing three photographs from the project Cyborg faces in collaboration with Olyvia Oriental gallery. In his project Cyborg faces, symbols from the modern technological world adorn, distort and pierce the bodies of the women in the images, creating a transcendent biological being. Through a carefully constructed and quite beautiful visual manipulation of the body, Marco Bolognesi creates an image of the post-human.

Scope Basel is the most global art show in the world, introducing artists, curators, and cutting-edge galleries to new audiences internationally, making it the most comprehensive destination for emerging art available anywhere.

We are also pleased to announce that Marco Bolognesi attended Art Chicago and it was a great success, with one of the highlights of the trip being a request from Biba gallery in Palm Beach to take one photograph from the Babylon Federation series into their collection. We feel that Marco has begun to make waves in the US, and we hope to build on this presence in the near future.

Solo show at Olyvia Oriental gallery

Bomar Edition and Olyvia Oriental gallery are pleased to present the exhibition ‘Z Generation: The realm of ambiguity' from June 25th until July 31st 2009 at Olyvia Oriental Gallery in London. For his second solo show in London and first with the gallery, Marco Bolognesi presents the three photographic projects Synteborg, Cyborg faces and Geiko, and the short film, Black Hole. Marco's established aesthetic approach to photography and film brings together otherwise quite separate objects and ideas to create an image that challenges our preconceptions.

There is in this case a sense of a social distortion of imagery and an expectation that is transformed into what is in front of you; a re-presentation of something we are familiar with. Bolognesi achieves this by using technical and physical processes of collage to appropriate cultural symbols and change their meaning, moving us away from the idea that human nature is static and towards an idea that change is possible.

New website

We have been working on a new website for Marco Bolognesi. The website will be launched on Friday, and will provide information about the artist and filmmaker Marco Bolognesi, as well as a chance to view some of his film, photography, installation and collage work.

Online presence

We would also like to announce that Marco now has his own Facebook page and group, MySpace page, and his own entry in Wikipedia. Please have a look at these pages for up to date information about the artist and if you're on facebook, please join the Facebook group for news about forthcoming shows and publications.
